Time to Prepare: 45 minutes
There’s something undeniably comforting about a warm biscuit fresh out of the oven — flaky, tender in the middle, and ready to be slathered in butter or smothered in gravy. At Twins at the Table, we adore baking, and today we’re sharing one of our absolute favorites: Simple Cream Biscuits. These easy homemade biscuits are beauties that come together with just a few ingredients and a no-fuss method that’s perfect for beginners. Ready to bake? Let’s get started!
Why We Love These Easy Homemade Biscuits
This recipe makes it easy to enjoy homemade biscuits without the intimidation factor. Here’s why this will be your new go-to: No cold butter, grating, or cutting necessary, you only need a handful of ingredients, and it’s perfect for first-time bakers or a last-minute side.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 1/4 cups heavy cream

Directions
Preheat your oven to 425°F
- In a large mixing bowl, add the dry ingredients and use a whisk to combine them.
- Pour in the cream, then use a spatula or wooden spoon to mix the ingredients together until just combined.
- On a well floured surface, turn out your biscuit dough and use either your hands or a rolling pin to shape the dough into a long rectangle, roughly 24” by 8”.
- Fold the dough in half lengthwise to create a layer in the dough and slightly press together. This layer in your biscuit dough will ensure that your biscuits are easily pulled in half when they come out of the oven. You should now have a smaller rectangle about 12“ x 8“.
- Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to cut the biscuit dough into 12 equal square pieces.**
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and arrange the biscuits evenly on it.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the tops are a light golden brown.
- Serve immediately!
**Cut the Biscuits: Traditional circles- Use a biscuit cutter and cut out rounds. Or easy squares (our favorite method!)- Simply slice the dough into even squares with a knife. Less mess, no scraps, same great taste!
You should end up with about 12 medium-sized biscuits. (Or, if you’re like us and got carried away… 16 smaller ones. Both work!)
Twin Tip:
Pair these biscuits with our Sausage Gravy for a Southern-style breakfast that’ll have everyone at the table asking for seconds. It’s the definition of comfort food!
