🧈 Why We Love These Easy Homemade Biscuits
This recipe makes it easy to enjoy homemade biscuits without the intimidation factor. What is the secret to this great biscuit? Here’s why this will be your new go-to:
- No cold butter, grating, or cutting necessary
- Only a handful of ingredients
- Perfect for first-time bakers or a last-minute side
- Soft, tender texture — every single time
🥣 Ingredients You’ll Need
What is the basic biscuit formula? To start, go ahead and preheat your oven to 425°F. Then gather the following:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 1/4 cups heavy cream
That’s it. Seriously.

🥄 The Simple Method
- Mix Dry Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. - Add the Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and mix gently until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix — we want soft, pillowy biscuits, not hockey pucks! - Form the Dough
Generously flour your work surface, then turn the dough out onto it. Sprinkle a little more flour on top as needed, and bring the dough into a cohesive ball. - Shape & Fold for Flaky Layers
Flatten the dough into a rectangle. Then fold it in half like a book — this simple trick gives the biscuits a layer right through the middle, making them easy to pull apart once baked. Flatten slightly again.
🔪 Time to Cut
You’ve got two options here:
- Traditional circles: Use a biscuit cutter and cut out rounds.
- Easy squares (our favorite method!): Simply slice the dough into even squares with a knife. Less mess, no scraps — same great taste!
You should end up with about 12 medium-sized biscuits. (Or, if you’re like us and got carried away… 16 smaller ones. Both work!)
🔥 Baking Time
- Place biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake in your preheated 425°F oven until the tops are golden brown — about 12–15 minutes.
- Serve immediately — biscuits are best enjoyed hot out of the oven.
Trust us, you’ll love the soft, tender center and the perfectly golden edges.
✨ Bonus Tip: Take It Up a Notch
Pair these biscuits with our Sausage Gravy for a Southern-style breakfast that’ll have everyone at the table asking for seconds. It’s the definition of comfort food!
