Sometimes nothing sounds better than a comforting bowl of chicken noodle soup. Our homemade recipe is perfect for when you’re fighting off a cold, caring for someone you love, or if you’re craving a cozy bowl of filling and nutritious soup. This recipe is always the right choice on soup night!

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 2 medium carrots
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 chicken breast
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 8oz egg noodles or 1 recipe of our homemade noodles
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste

Directions:

  1. Chop the onion and celery, and peel and chop the carrots.
  2. Add the butter to a large pot over medium heat. Once heated, add the chopped veggies and sauté for about 5-6 minutes.
  3. Pour in the broth and add the chicken breast and the salt. Bring to a boil. Allow the chicken breast to simmer in the broth until cooked through, about 10 minutes.
  4. If you’re making homemade noodles, now is the time to make them, while the chicken is cooking.
  5. Use tongs to remove the chicken breast to a cutting board. Shred or chop the chicken and add back to the pot.
  6. Add the noodles and cook until tender. Enjoy!

You can keep this dish quick and easy with store-bought noodles, or take it up a notch by making your noodles from scratch. Try our recipe for homemade noodles here!

Either way, you’ll end up with a hot bowl of soup that’s perfect for dinner and even better as leftovers (if it lasts that long)!

Happy souping,
